DIRECTOR

As a director, I believe in the inherent creativity of all people. My style is to empower the creative genius of my casts by providing tools and structure for c0-creation . I approach all performance as a collaboration with the mystery in which there are no mistakes, only brilliant opportunities for grace.

Puna Women’s Chorus 2017-2019 Pahoa, HI: This community chorus invited women of all levels of experience to empower their voices, discover the power of harmony, and connect in sisterhood through song.
The Forgiving 2015 Ashland, OR: Over the course of a month, this transformational theater experience invited 10 men and 10 women from the community to explore the merging of the masculine and feminine within themselves and in relationships through improvisational storytelling, movement, and music.
Priestess 2015 Ashland, OR: This improvisational ritual performance invited women to reveal their lives as practicing priestesses in a modern context.
Storybridge Theater 2014-2015 Moraga, CA and Ashland, OR: This form of community performance was developed by Dr. Richard Owen Geer as a method of community peace-making. Based on stories from the community, participants make a play-in-a-day through weaving their stories into one and stepping into each other’s shoes.

LIVE PERFORMANCE

For me, performance art is an embodied act of trust in which I imbue the spirit of creative freedom and gratitude through surrender to the moment. Though I'm not opposed to memorization, I am always rooted in a willingness to respond gracefully to whatever the mystery hands me.

Woodlander and Friends 2020 Sebastopol, CA: In these live performances, I joined Josh Woodlander in a 2-3 hour improvisational songwriting show.
The Alana Mirror Musical Improv Show 2017-2019 Pahoa & Hilo HI: This monthly show invited local musicians to come together with no rehearsal in an embodied act of creative trust; no one knew what they were going to play before they got on stage, and many of them had never played together before. With real-time candid storytelling and improvisational song-writing, these shows created a space where every bit of the discovery could be embraced in love.
Marrying the Muse 2015 Ashland, OR: In this two-hour improvisational performance art piece, I told stories, sang acapella improv songs, and facilitated audience participation around the themes of embracing the mystery, trusting the journey, and radically exposing our personal discovery.
Melted Inhibitions 2012 Fringe Festival San Francisco, CA: In this 60-minute one-woman show, I told my story of awakening through acapella songs and spoken-word poetry.
Living Mirror Embodied Reflection Live Art Instillations 2013-2019 @ various Transformational Festivals: In this living performance-art, I carried a huge mirror around with me at music festivals. Beyond dancing and singing with my own reflection, with magic mirror cards, I invited curious kin to engage their reflection with love, creativity, vulnerability, and authenticity.

WORKSHOPS

As the creator of the The Living Mirror Practice I have been facilitating transformational arts for many years in different contexts and communities. My facilitation style is rooted in the spirit of personal discovery and learning together.

Vocal Liberation 2014-2020 Mount Shasta, CA; Ashland, OR; Pahoa, HI; Sebastopol, CA: In this improv singing circle, singers of all levels of experience are invited to empower their voice and creative spirit through co-creating improvisational mantras and vocal layers.
Act Like You 2019 Pahoa, HI: In these 7-11 week series, participants are empowered in their most authentic expression through creative reflection and improv singing and storytelling. Workshops end in a community performance.

As an emcee, I have a candid and authentic flavor that uplifts and unifies audiences through our shared humanity.

Open Heart Open Mic 2015 Ashland, OR; 2017 Hilo, HI Unlike any other open mic, this safe-container invites participants to push the limits of their own creative comfort. All forms of creative expression are welcome: music, storytelling, dance, poetry, and even radical acts like silence and stillness. Improvisation is encouraged. Participants are asked to stay as witnesses as well as performers.
